Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind

The concept of the book, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, is based on a movie about two lovers, one choosing to use a futuristic device that allows them to wipe the memory of their lover entirely. The concept of love, and to forget love. To describe this movie in an art form I choose to depict it with an iris.

When you look at someone you’re in love with, your pupils can dilate up to 4x the iris’s normal size. With this in mind having a book about loving someone and forgetting them- having one size dilated and the other size not, seemed fitting as the characters attempt to fall out of love with each other.

The book, without text in the front or back, will force a buyer to pick up the book to inquire the name and with hopes to read the inner slip to further grab their attention. With the bold colors, I’ve had dozens of people tell me they immediately identified it as an iris, others a more abstract concept, but all very intrigued and eager to learn the meaning behind it. Although this piece is a simple one, it remains one of my favorites.
